The sunburst chairs return to the Memorial Union Terrace\
Wisconsinites, rejoice! The Memorial Union Terrace is finally open for the season. If you’re like me and enjoy a good beer while overlooking a beautiful lake, then this is your heaven on earth. With an ice cream shop, playground, and plenty of outdoor seating, there’s no way to not have a good time here. So pull up a chair, order yourself a cold one, and take in the view. From sailboats dotting the water to birds flying in the distance, it’s hard not to be mesmerized by Madison’s beauty. Welcome to summer in Wisconsin! (VERY SOON!)
Justin and I are so excited to have the chairs back at the Memorial Union Terrace on April 14th! WHOOHOO!!!! We love getting a pitcher of beer, sitting by the water, and people watching.
There is more than just sitting and drinking beer too! The hot dogs & brats are another way we love to enjoy the warmer nights! It’s a fun, cheap date night! You can also see incredible good movies and bands on the stage! We found out about the movies by accident one year. We were having too much fun watching people, and time flew by! Before we knew it, the sun was going down, and a screen was going down. A movie we’d never seen before came on, so we stayed and watched! Another fun addition to a date night! A FREE MOVIE!
The terrace is also excellent for photos too! BUT, a few things you need to know first if you are taking wedding, family, or couple photos down there!
- You do need a permit, it is free, but they want to know who’s down there. We forget, but we are aware of the rules and abide by them.
- For weddings, I highly suggest NOT doing this! As it’s SUPER busy during the Summer months and be a little annoying to maneuver around all the people. If you want to do this, I suggest just being the couple or making sure the photographer knows the rules.
- I couldn’t recommend photographing in the early mornings instead for families or couples! This way you have all to yourself, you don’t have to fight crowds and the morning light is AMAZING! But, if you have your mind made up, get there early enough to get a table or be prepared to work around the crowds 🙂
- Be conscious of the people around you – they are trying to enjoy a relaxing evening. Don’t ask anyone to move, don’t take the chairs when you can’t take them & be respectful.
