MEXICO

Trocones Mexico trip of a lifetime!

First, I must say that this was a work trip filled with so many amazing people! We were hired to photograph Lesley and Joe’s Elopement on the beach. Everyone flew in the same day as all the other guests, where we hung out by the bus to await everyone. The unique bus line (or our rad hosts) had chilled beer ready for us all. Let me tell you that beer was needed! We all came from freezing climates, Alaska & the Midwest, so the heat of Mexico hit us hard! We instantly fell in love with all the guests and felt like we were already part of the gang. Some I grew up with, so it was like a mini-reunion!

We were all staying at different Beds & Breakfasts or houses; we stopped at a mega grocery store to stock up on food. The place we were staying at provided a full breakfast, so we needed snacks and food for lunch. Every night we ate at a different restaurant, I will name our favorites, don’t worry! Strange shopping where you didn’t know what the labels said, but thankfully we love Mexican food, so we weren’t worried! The only thing that I got that we wish would have stayed on the shelves was a gluten-free bar! It tasted and looked like bird food!

When we arrived at our Bed & Breakfast, my jaw dropped when we walked through the front door!

We stayed at the fabulous Casa Manzanillo with ten other guests from the wedding. I couldn’t have asked for better people to share a home with! Each morning, I asked Justin or one of our rad housemates how to say what I wanted for breakfast. I was that stupid American that was so scared to get it wrong that I spoke Spanglish. Oh, man! Next time, I will practice more! The kitchen would make anything from Huevos Rancheros to pancakes! We had Huevos Rancheros almost every morning! They were soooo good! Of course, I made them for breakfast every morning when we got back!

We all mainly sat by or in the pool during the afternoon, reading a book, drinking delicious drinks, or walking along the beach. This was our first tropical trip ever, and we soaked up every moment we weren’t working.

The rehearsal dinner was at the unique Amor Tropical Cocktail Bar and Kitchen! Walking into this place was like walking into tropical heaven! The owners built it by hand from recycled and found things. The oh-so delicious drinks were from all organic ingredients. Oh, the tacos we had were the most delicious we’ve ever had!

Some of our favorite restaurants that we ate at are:

  • Restaurant Martha
  • Restaurant Los Angeles – had the best hamburger! SERIOUSLY!
  • Restaurante Brisas Mexicanas
  • Jardin del Eden, Troncones
  • Restaurante 7 Mares
  • Roberto’s Bistro – where we watched the Super Bowl!

We cannot wait to return to this amazing community!
