Favorite part of your job?

Creating for my customers and sharing Perfect Imperfection goodies with them. I love everything from the conception of a product while making it come to life in each and every step. What will the jar or bottle and lid look like? What will the label look like? Placing it in the container, labeling it and displaying it. Making it just perfect.

What was something that surprised you about what you do?

How truly good it makes me feel. The connections that I would make with customers by sharing out stories. How it has challenged me to trust and believe in myself. That I am capable of so many things that if it weren’t for Perfect Imperfections I would have never done. Like building my own website.

Do you have a favorite product?

My Whipped Body Butter is my absolute favorite! I love the way it smells and feels when I put it on. It truly is luxurious if I might say so myself.

What is your go-to music to work to?

Jazz – Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Diana Krall, just to name a few.

Best advice you’ve received?

You won’t be the first and you won’t be the last. My mom told me that at a time when I thought my life was ending only to later find out that it was just beginning. As a business owner and in life, there are times that I come up against a situation and it’s those words that get me through. And I always hear them in my mom’s voice.

What advice would you give an aspiring someone interested in your career or any career?

Networking and getting outside of your comfort zone will take you places and spaces that as a business owner you need to be in. Don’t get me wrong, my comfort zone is amazing but the life I have lived outside of it as a business owner is even better. Follow your intuition and lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for help and don’t be afraid to fail.

What are at least THREE things you cannot live without on a daily basis?

My solitude, my family and my whipped body butter.

How do you stay inspired?

My customers, family and all things pretty keep me inspired. It’s funny because on the days that I’m on the fence about continuing on this path as a small business owner or leaving it. Something will happen that will make my decision for me and I pay close attention to those things.

I was having a conversation with my neighbor yesterday and she asked about my business and how things were going. I gave her an honest answer about I wasn’t quite sure where I was going with it. Especially during this time when all events have been canceled.

I came inside, opened messenger and there was a message from a stranger asking if they could purchase 250 items to give to healthcare workers on the front lines. It’s stories like those that keep me inspired. Someone thinks enough about Perfect Imperfections to share my name with a stranger to comfort others in a time of need. It truly doesn’t get much better for that when it comes to inspiration.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Nothing was the first thing that came to mind. But if it can’t be anything. I enjoy listening to music. I’m fortunate to live on the Isthmus and enjoy exploring the tucked away neighborhoods. And food, I love trying new restaurants and listening to live music in small venues like Cafe Coda.
