Iceland travel guide, Kleifarvatn Lake Iceland. Beautiful lake near Reykjavik!
We arrived in Iceland a few days before our couples elopement, as we wanted to scout the elopement location before the big day! I scouted this session on Google Maps, but it was so much more beautiful in person!
I was so thankful we got to see it in person as we could tell people where to park, that there was a bathroom just down the road and more! We also got to take the couple there the day before their ceremony day to show them where we thought they should have their ceremony. They thought it was perfect!
We drove down the road for a bit where we found some hot springs and a beautiful blue lake. It was sooo blue, wish I would have taken a photo of it! We saw a beautiful field of Icelandic Horses! Even sheep as we went down the road a little bit more! I wish we could have kept driving, I wanted to see so much!
I am going to admit that I was terrified to drive a car that I didn’t know very well, that was also stick shift, on a torn-up part of the road. This part of the road we had to be in 2nd gear going up and down the giant hill. But, before that part and after it it was one of the most beautiful drives I have ever done!
Kleifarvatn Lake is probably by far my favorite part that we saw while in Iceland! Most likely because there were very little people and the mountain range with the beautiful lake was breathtaking! This lake is just a short drive from Reykjavik too! A super easy drive too! If you are ever in the area you NEED to go here!
